The trade mark was first presented by R.A. Patterson in Richmond, VA in 1871 as a chewing tobacco. Lucky Strike Company became a cigarette after it was acquired by the American Tobacco Company in 1905.
The first advertising slogan of the company was “It’s toasted”. It was created to inform consumers about the new method of tobacco products manufacturing. The meaning was that there is nothing better than a sun-dried toast. This manufacturing process gave Lucky Strike unique and different flavors. “L.S.M.F.T” (Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco) – “Lucky Strike” becomes independent and underlines its individuality.
At first, Lucky Strike packs were green but soon in 1942 were changed to white in order to lower the expenses and attract the attention among women-smokers.
In the end of 2006 Lucky Strike stopped its producing within the USA. But, these Cigarettes still have the support and are spread in the other countries, being a British American Tobacco (BAT) global brand.
